The team is so excited that you are sponsoring a pilgrim on a Closer Walk. Please begin now preparing for your pilgrim’s successful participation in these three days.
Here is a checklist of things you should be working on:
Arrange to bring your pilgrim to Black River Center for Learning between 6:30 - 7:00 PM on Thursday, evening of the walk weekend. Bring them directly to the pilgrim’s dorms for drop off.
Be sure they have eaten Thursday evening as no meal is served that night.
Please stay with your pilgrim until SEND-OFF, in the cafeteria, at 7:30 PM when the Lay Director will lead all the pilgrims to the conference room.
SPONSOR’S HOUR: Will follow immediately in the chapel. This brief service is your opportunity to pray for each pilgrim by name.
CANDLELIGHT: Gather at the walk site in the Cafeteria between 7:30 and 8:00 PM on Saturday, evening of the walk]. Communion will begin at 8:00 PM
CLOSING: Gather in the Cafeteria between 3:30 and 4:00 PM on Sunday, afternoon of the walk. We want to be in place before the pilgrims arrive, and it’s nice to have a little time to visit with friends and sing.
LETTERS: Please remember to ask your pilgrim's friends and relatives to write letters for them and bring those letters with you when you bring them to the walk site. Important Note: Pilgrims receive 12 letters during the walk. If possible, please give it to the support person at the door before candlelight. Pick up any extra letters at the door before closing, and give them to your pilgrim any time after closing.
While your pilgrim is at the Walk, you can be a great assistance for their family. Make yourself available for emergencies, fellowship time and spiritual support. We really want the pilgrim to remain undisturbed during this time so they can get everything God has for them. Therefore, the family should have your phone number in the event they need to get hold of the pilgrim during the Walk.
The team appreciates your spiritual support and requests your prayers during this preparation time. Please review the pilgrim's information submitted for accuracy. If you have any questions, please contact the registrar, preferably by email.
